What causes Degenerative Disc Disease?

Degenerative Disc Disease is the result of a health intervertebral disc, degrading, by either excessive wear or the accumulation of water in the disc giving it a sponge like quality. In either case the result is the same, diminished disc mass. This diminishment in the intervertebral disc,  results in a loss of the disc’s ability to absorb stress and pressure creating the resulting chronic pain.
